I always try to make sure that my Word add-in with a custom ribbon matches the user's Word version in terms of design. But it looks like the new version of Word complicates things...
1) As I understand it, the new Word 2019 with the new SVG ribbon icons cannot be distinguished by version number as it is still version 16. I normally use Left(Word.Application.Version, 2) to determine which version of Word a user is running, but that is going to return "16" with Word 2019, the same as Word 2016. So...
Is there any reliable way, using VBA code, to determine whether a user is running the new version of Word 2019/Office 365 with the new SVG icons as opposed to Word 2016 with the old icons?
2) I have previously used 5 different sized png files to be used on the custom ribbon and checked DPI to pick the right one. As I understand it, Office 2019 now uses SVG files on the ribbon. I'm not sure I'll manage to be able to use SVG icons for my custom ribbon, but if I do, is there now just one size of icon in Office and what are the dimensions of the SVG file (or files, if there are more than one)?
Thanks.
